Why I cannot connect to the Pocket PC emulator when I am offline? It shows "Timeout: Failed to connect to the device" error message. Old Pocket PC 2000 Emulator works without any problems. How can I solve this problem with Pocket PC 2002 Emulator?
Pocket PC 2002 Emulator uses TCP/IP and cannot work without at least one open TCP/IP connection. You can setup Microsoft Loopback Adaptor and the emulator will use this connection. Here are step-by-step instructions how to setup Microsoft Loopback Adaptor under Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
1. Open Control Panel -> Add/Remove Hardware applet.
3. Choose to select new hardware from a list.
5. Choose Microsoft Loopback Adapter.
6. After adding Microsoft Loopback Adapter open "Network and Dial-up Connections" applet in the Control Panel...
7. and edit properties of the new connection.
8. Set "192.168.0.1" is IP address and "255.255.255.0" as subnet mask.
The connection is setup. Now you can use Pocket PC 2002 emulator without being connected to Internet.
1. Open Control Panel -> Printers and Other Hardware applet.
2. Click on the "Add Hardware" link in the top right corner.
3. Choose "Yes, I have connected the hardware".
5. Choose to select the hardware from a list.
7. Choose Microsoft Loopback Adapter.
8. After adding Microsoft Loopback Adapter open "Network Connections" applet in the Control Panel and
edit properties of the new connection. If the new connection is not shown repeat steps 1..7 again (it really helps).
8. Set "192.168.0.1" is IP address and "255.255.255.0" as subnet mask.
The connection is setup. Now you can use Pocket PC 2002 emulator without being connected to Internet.
